PM Vishwakarma Yojana
Launched on September 17, 2023, this central sector scheme supports traditional artisans and craftsmen. Implemented by the Ministry of MSME, it enhances skill development, financial support, and market access to boost livelihoods and promote “Vocal for Local” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives.
Key Features
- Focus on 18 traditional trades (carpenters, blacksmiths, etc.).
- Artisans receive PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card.
- Basic (5 days) and advanced (15 days) training with a ₹500/day stipend.
- Collateral-free loans up to ₹2 lakh at 5% interest.
PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana
PMKVY is the flagship skill development scheme of the Government of India, implemented by MSDE through NSDC. The scheme aims to provide industry-relevant skill training to youth, enhancing their employability and promoting entrepreneurship.

- Training for unemployed youth and school/college dropouts.
- Training aligned with National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).
- Covers both technical and soft skills.
- Training in traditional and emerging sectors (AI, cybersecurity).

SANKALP
Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) is a World Bank-assisted project aimed at strengthening institutional mechanisms for skill development and increasing access to quality and market-relevant training for the youth.

India Skills Competitions
The India Skills Competition is the country’s largest skill competition, providing a platform for youth to showcase their talents. JKSDM facilitates the participation of youth from J&K, enabling them to compete at regional, national, and international levels, benchmarking their skills against global standards.
